Sunday 7 August (Trinity 7) 10.30am Sung Parish Mass at which we welcome our new friends from our link parish, the Scarrowbeck Group. The preacher will be Fr Brian Faulkner, Rector of that group. The Mass will include the ministry of healing, by Revd Gillian Ireson. Celebratory glass of wine after the Mass, to share fellowship

NOTICES

  • Fr Darren is on holiday until Thurs 4 August. Thanks to Fr Alan for covering the Tuesday Mass. Should you need a priest in an emergency, do contact Fr Peter Howard, our Rural Dean, on 702799.
  • Our July charity is the Magdalene Group more details on our charity noticeboard.
  • Film Club this Friday is showing a selection of short films, including the animated short The Man who Planted Trees. Do come along for some enjoyable viewing and some good company!
  • HMP Bure (at the ex-RAF Coltishall airbase) is in need of more prison visitors, to visit men who are without family or friends (training, support and travel expenses given). If you are interested in volunteering, details can be found on the table at the back of church or speak to Gill Persicke.
  • Please keep bringing in tins of food for the Salvation Army collection, and place them in the box in the tower vestry. Many thanks to Elsie and David Johnson for continuing to organise this.
  • Did you miss last Sunday? Then you didn’t receive your copy of the feedback from our parish Away Day. Do pick up a copy from the back of church, and commit it to your prayers.
  • Our 2012 St Giles Parish pocket diary is available at the back of church, price 50p; please put money in the wall safe. Our thanks to local businesses who have placed an advert in the diary.
  • Date for the diary on Sunday 14 August, we welcome back the St Giles Singers for a Sung Mass setting on the Feast Day of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sung Festival Mass is at 10.30am.
  • As a follow-up to the visit from the Scarrowbeck group next Sunday, we will be visiting Erpingham on Sun 2 October. There will be a low Mass at St Giles on that Sunday, as we hope most people will be able to attend the Sung Mass at Erpingham (near Aylsham). More details nearer the time.
  • Donations of wine for use at special events always gratefully received by the churchwardens!
  • During the week of 22-27 August, we are hoping to put on several small-scale prayer events in our Pitt Lane Prayer Room, to get the space prayed-in by us, the congregation. If you have a particular style of prayer which you would like included in the week, or if you would like to help organise or lead some prayer, please speak to Gill Persicke. Thank you!
  • Saturday 10 September, 9am to 5pm, is the Norfolk Churches Trust sponsored cycle ride or sponsored walk. If you would like to take part, please ask Fr Darren for a sponsorship form.
