Today is Bible Sunday “The eagle soars in the summit of heaven” wrote T.S Eliot in ‘The Rock’. As the eagle was the bird supposed to fly closest to heaven, so it is appropriate that we have our eagle lecterns at St Giles to support Holy Scripture.
PCC members have envelopes to collect from the post tray today.
St Giles Luncheon Club “Well what was all that about?” A new St Giles Project! On the first Sunday of the month you are invited to have your lunch at the Coach and Horses in Bethel Street. This is not a Parish Lunch, but rather an informal gathering of any who want to go out and enjoy some company (no need to book, pay on arrival, away by 2pm). After the meal we shall have some discussion about what we learnt from the sermon, some sharing of ideas and thoughts. Fr Darren will be in attendance. It is hoped that this will allow us to get to know each other better, especially those who live alone.
The Magazine Your copy of the Autumn Edition is available from the back of church for you to take home.
Christmas Stalls will be on Saturday 23 November from 11am to 1pm. If you can help in any way please speak to Elsie or Rodney. Please encourage all your friends to come along!
Our October Charity is MIND. See the display on the Charities notice board for more details. If you would like to make a personal donation to add to that which the PCC gives, then please put your donation in the box on the table by the Charities board (gift-aided if possible).
Our Parish Share next year will be £32,815, a further £566, an increase of 1.75% over our 2019 Parish Share. Please can I ask you all to consider prayerfully how you can increase your giving next year so that between us we can manage to cover this increase? If you donate frequently to the offertory at St Giles and wish to use gift aid you can have a set of buff envelopes (with your confidential personal number on) – no more filling in of envelopes! Our Treasurer can provide you with a set. Thank you! John Baldry

Our thanks to the Trustees of the Colton’s Acre General Trust for their donation of £200 towards our work with those from West Pottergate who call at the Rectory for food parcels.
November is the month for remembering. This year it begins with the All Souls’ Day Mass on Friday 1 November at 10.00am. There is a list at the back of church to record the names of the departed you would like remembered. If you are putting names on the list it would be good if you could make every effort to attend the Mass to pray for them. All Saints’ will be on Sunday 3 November when the Mass will include a procession, healing ministry and a celebratory glass of wine after the service. The theme of remembering continues on Sunday 10 November as we keep Remembrance Sunday, which will include the reading of the Parish Roll of Honour.
